Judyism Accepts Gay Marriage!

Judt Tanuta

Founder of the religion “Judyism,” Judy Tenuta brings her brand of stand-up comedy to Las Vegas armed only with her wise-assery and trademark accordion.

“I am a stand up comedian so I use the accordion to punish people,” Tenuta said.  “The accordion is an instrument of love and punishment.”

In the 80’s, Tenuta delighted audiences with her comedy character the self appointed “Love Goddess” of eccentric observations. She appears in several 80s TV ads, game shows and recently completed roles in two indie films. She was nominated for a Grammy award, twice! Not to mention her many voiceovers for popular cartoons and self produced Youtube videos spoofing everyone from Lady Gaga to Sarah Palin.

“Oh my god, Sarah Palin! They could have used her at the convention,” Tenuta said. “It was a snooze fest until Dirty Harry showed up talking to an empty chair.“

In her new act, Tenuta doles out pearls of wisdom from her book “The Power of Judyism.” The section on Hollywood to English translations is especially helpful.

“You know how people never say what they really mean,” Tenuta said. “[In Hollywood] If they say ‘hey I love your work,’ what they really mean is ‘I just saw your sex tape.”

Her book also features some helpful advice for “breeding love slaves” and recipes for “sassy stoner snacks for love slaves.” One of the major tenants of “Judyism” is “Forget about all your problems and think about mine for a change,” Tenuta said. “It’s all about driving Miss Judy. So you have to be willing to drive the Goddess around.”

If you’re looking to get married, you’re in luck! Tenuta plans on performing marriages (gay or straight) under the auspice of “Judyism,” complete with a blessing from the Goddess herself.

Tenuta lives in Hollywood but jokes about peoples’ perception of Tinseltown,

“People are always like, ‘you must be friends with everyone,’ ugh...not really but you’d be surprised at all the people that come over to borrow things,” Tenuta said. “Like Chris Rock always comes over and is like ‘Hey Judy do you got a cup of heroin?”

Tenuta is a big supporter of gay rights but that’s not why gays love her. Her loud observations and self serving, over the top religion appeal to to many worshippers, gay or straight.

“Here’s what I also like about gay men, they love the Sunday brunch. They love the bloody mary brunch,” Tenuta said. “After a night of dancing and poppers there’s nothing like brunch, am I right?”

Tenuta sets her sights on Vegas audiences September 17-23 at The New Tropicana, 8:30pm
