ABOUT QVEGAS
QVegas
is the voice of the gay community in Southern Nevada. Building on over
28 years of experience, QVegas is the premier
magazine addressing gay lifestyles and the concerns of the greater Las
Vegas community. Published monthly, QVegas values hip and professional
design qualities, provocative and entertaining content, and exists to
foster understanding of and culture within the gay community.
Stonewall
Publishing, Inc., is about more than just publishing QVegas.
As a company, we pride ourselves on our active involvement in the Las
Vegas gay community, our role as chroniclers of history and our ability
to educate and call our readers to action.
In 1978,
a group of community activists formed the Las Vegas Gay Times
to report important political news to gay citizens and to foster a
growing community. A few years later, the non-profit paper was
purchased by a private company and renamed the Bohemian Bugle.
It later changed to the Las Vegas Bugle, under
which name it has operated until recently.
In 2001,
the biweekly Las Vegas Bugle was purchased by
Stonewall Publishing, Inc., and combined with our successful monthly
magazine, Out Las Vegas. While maintaining the
quarter of a century tradition of advocacy and journalism, the magazine
was infused with a fresh perspective and a focus on entertainment.
Stonewall Publishing also created the first successful gay community
business directory and a number of special event guides.
In
addition to creating and publishing QVegas and
other products, Stonewall Publishing is highly active in the community
itself. The magazine has been at the inception of many organizations
that still exist today. We are presently sponsors of Las Vegas Gay
Pride, AFAN Black & White Party, AFAN AIDS Walk, Bighorn Rodeo,
Golden Rainbow's Ribbon of Life, and the Beaux Arts Ball. In addition
to sponsoring these events, the company has donated in excess of
$150,000 annually in donated or discounted advertising to worthy
organizations such as the Gay & Lesbian Community Center and
the ACLU.
Stonewall
Publishing is active in the coordinating and organizing of fundraisers
and special events as well. Since 2002, the company has planned and
sponsored the National Coming Out Day Street Festival, which has
already grown to be one of the premier events of the social calendar.
Through the NCOD Street Festival, the company has raised thousands of
dollars for local non-profit groups. Additionally, the company has
organized dozens of smaller fundraisers for various causes through its
501(c)(3) non-profit organization, QVegas Foundation.
We're
proud to say that the health and success of publications like QVegas
encourages us and allows us to give back to our community in these
ways. We want you to feel confident that when you support us, you are
helping to assist, grow and support the gay community at large.
